Born in Grasse, the historical heart of the perfume industry, Jacques had a natural entry into the profession. Plucking jasmine as a child during the flourishing summers soon evolved into a tutelage with an experienced perfumer. Always a fierce innovator, Jacques’s technique is considered and worldly; a flair he has passed onto his daughter, Senior Perfumer Carla Chabert.
Examining the world through multiple lenses, Jacques sources his inspiration from international literature: “I may read an article on a composer, writer or painter, and it will give me ideas.” For him, perfumery is an expression of the self. Re-charge Black Pepper began as his own personal fragrance back in 2001; now bestselling and treasured for its robust, spicy vigour.
